SEBASTIAN COUNTY (KFSM) -- The Sebastian County Sheriff's Office issued a warning Tuesday (August 4) stating an aggravated robbery suspect is armed and is a threat to public safety.

The sheriff's office issued an aggravated robbery warrant for Michael Lee Jones, 36, of Fort Smith on Monday following a home invasion on July 27 in the 1800 block of Red Brown Place, according to a release from the sheriff's office.

Since issuing the warrant, Jones has communicated with investigators saying he will not go back to prison and will have a violent encounter with law enforcement, the release states. Jones has a violent criminal history and is believed to be armed, according to the release.

The Sebastian County Sheriff's Office is working to find Jones with the assistance of the Fort Smith Police Department and the U.S. Marshals Service, the release states. Jones' whereabouts are currently unknown.

If Jones is spotted, immediately call 911 and anyone with any information as to his whereabouts should contact the Sebastian County Sheriff's Office at (479) 783-1051. Callers can remain anonymous.

The other suspect in the aggravated robbery, Steven Flynn, turned himself into authorities Thursday (July 30), according to the sheriff's office.

Flynn and Jones are accused of robbing the residents at the home on Red Brown Place at gunpoint, the sheriff's office states.
