FORT SMITH (KFSM) — On Saturday (August 8), many visitors at Parrot Island Water Park swam for a good cause.

The park donated $1.50 per invitation to the nonprofit organization Arc for the River Valley of Fort Smith.

Arc for the River Valley provides advocacy, education and recreation for people dealing with intellectual and developmental disabilities.

“Arc for the River Valley is a fundraiser that we are doing at the park,” Bill Miller, general manager said. “Basically they handed out their invitations to anyone involved within the group or have given out in the community at some of their events. As long as you bring that in and show it to us, 10% of your daily fee is going to be returned back to the Arc for the River Valley.”

General admission at the water park costs $15. Parrot Island is open regularly from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. every day until school starts in Fort Smith.

Starting August 17, Miller said they will be open reduced hours until September 20. Tiny Tot Time will be on Tuesdays and Wednesdays from 9 to 11 a.m. After school swimming is scheduled for Thursdays and Fridays from 4 to 7 p.m. On Saturdays and Sundays Parrot Island will be open from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.
