BELLA VISTA (KFSM) -- The City of Bella Vista broke ground Thursday (August 13) on a fourth fire station that will be located along Arkansas Highway 279.

The station is expected to cost $2.2 million and Mayor Peter Christie said the station will be paid for in cash. After the station is complete it will also serve as a hub for state-wide communication in the event of a large-scale emergency or natural disaster.

Cassi Lapp, communications manager for the City of Bella Vista said the new fire station will cut response time in half in the area. The new station is expected to open in Spring of 2016.
