BENTON COUNTY (KFSM) — Arkansas Governor Asa Hutchinson appointed the Benton County prosecuting attorney to his Sentencing Commission.
Nathan Smith said he will be replacing Crawford County Prosecuting Attorney Marc McCune whose term on the commission has expired. The commission sets guidelines for appropriate prison sentences by taking into consideration the severity of the crime and a suspect’s criminal history, Smith said.
Smith will serve on the commission while serving as prosecuting attorney, he said.
