LITTLE ROCK (KFSM) — The Family Council Action Committee will present its first annual Power of Courage Award to Rep. Justin Harris, R-West Fork, and Rep. Charlene Fite, R-Van Buren.

According to a release from the organization, the awards were going to be presented at Wednesday’s (August 12) Republican Party of Crawford County Lincoln Day Dinner, but dinner organizers said that would not be the case and the Power of Courage Award was never part of the program.

Harris and Fite are being recognized for exhibiting their Christian faith and values in legislation they presented at the Arkansas State Capitol during the 90th General Assembly and demonstrating courage by standing strong in their faith, according to a release from the organization.

The release states:

“Rep. Harris is the owner and founder of Growing God’s Kingdom Preschool in West Fork and is serving his 3rd term as state representative. He has always been a strong advocate for home schoolers and the unborn. Even when opposed by the liberal media, Rep. Harris has always held firm and stood tall in his faith. No one can deny Rep. Harris’ faith has led him while serving at the Arkansas State Capitol. In 2015, Harris sponsored the Parental Involvement Enhancement Act, requiring parents to be involved in their children’s decision to terminate life by requesting an abortion. This is now law today.”

Harris will not be seeking reelection.

In March, a report was released stating Harris re-homed two adopted girls with Eric Frances of Bella Vista. Court records show Francis later pleaded guilty to sexually assaulting one of them.
