SPRINGDALE (KFSM) — A convicted sex offender was arrested Tuesday (August 18), after detectives said he raped a five-year-old girl and failed to register as a sex offender, according to a probable cause report from the Washington County Sheriff’s Office.

Warren Oleson, 31, was arrested in Springdale by Washington County deputies after they received a report from the Child Abuse Hotline that Oleson had raped the child on multiple occasion, the report states. The girl was taken to the Children’s Safety Center where she was interviewed, according to the report.

Oleson is registered as a sex offender, but he failed to notify Washington County that he moved to a new address, the report states.

Court records show in May 2011, Oleson was given a sentence of three years in prison and three years suspended sentence for failing to register as a sex offender or reporting an address change in 2010. He was released on parole in January 2015 and was supposed to be supervised until November 2017, records show.

In September 2008, Oleson also pleaded guilty to failing to register as a sex offender or reporting an address change and failing to comply with sex offender reporting requirements, records shows. Oleson was sentenced to 10 years in prison with five years suspended, according to records.

In October 2007, Oleson was accused of rape, but records indicate the charge was dropped by either the plaintiff or the prosecutor.

According to the Benton County Circuit Clerk, Oleson was a juvenile when he was convicted of an offense that led to him becoming a registered sex offender, so that information cannot be released.

In a 2014 letter addressed to the Benton County Circuit Clerk’s office, Oleson writes the incident that led to him being a registered sex offender happened in 1996 and he was convicted of a non-violent misdemeanor.
