HOLIDAY ISLAND (KFSM) — Dive teams found the body presumed to be of a missing Carroll County woman in Table Rock Lake on Thursday (Aug. 20), according to a Carroll County press release.
A body was found in a submerged vehicle, and George Frye, chief deputy of Carroll County Sheriff Department, said in the release that the department is confident the victim is Audrey Jean Bott. A silver alert was issued for Bott on Wednesday (Aug. 19), but the alert was cancelled Thursday after debris from the wreck matched Bott’s vehicle description.
Assistant Holiday Island fire chief Bob Clave discovered debris from the accident after a citizen reported a suspicious vehicle driving back and forth along the bluffs near the marina, according to the release. The Carroll County Sheriff Department was notified, and they took over the search.
The Benton County Dive Team and the Mennonite Disaster Response Team were also on scene, and found the vehicle submerged in 26 feet of water, the release states.
The medical examiner will make the official identification of the body, according to the release. The woman’s remains will be examined at the State Crime Lab to determine cause of death.
