LITTLE ROCK (KFSM) — Former U.S. Attorney for the Western District of Arkansas Conner Eldridge announced Monday (August 24) that he is considering challenging Republican U.S. Sen. John Boozman in Arkansas next year.

Eldridge’s last day as U.S. attorney was August 21.

He released the following statement regarding his possible run for U.S. Senate:

“On Friday, I finished four-and-a-half years in the United States Attorney’s office. I’m doing what I said I would do — talking to friends and family and doing a lot of thinking about what comes next for me and my family. I do know that I always want to be a part of making a difference for Arkansas. I intend to take some time to figure out how I can best continue to serve the state and that includes looking at running for the United States Senate in 2016. I will make that decision in the weeks ahead.”
