BENTON COUNTY (KFSM) - For Quorum Court Judge Barry Moehring, now is the time for the county to look in the future.

“Certainly, we are blessed to live in Benton County,” Moehring said. “We have had a lot of prosperity. We have had a lot of great things happen here. And, we have a lot of strong businesses here.”

Moehring said his decades of experience in managing large businesses will help the county plan for growth.

“We have 50,000 people who are going to move to Benton County over the next 10 years, according to some studies,” Moehring said. “We need to do a much better job as a county, in terms of planning for that growth. Making sure we have the right infrastructure in place, and making sure, generally, that we are accommodating those people who are coming here.”

Moehring said he also knows the importance of showing those outside city limits that they are a focus of the county.

“The folks in the rural areas need particular attention, though. Because, they don’t live in cities,” Moehring said. “So, they expect more from the county by way of roads and infrastructure.”

Moehring has never served as county judge.

However, he said his time as a successful businessman, and as a quorum court member, have prepared him for the judge’s chair.

“Quite honestly, I have that kind of experience I can bring to Benton County,” Moehring said.
