CEDARVILLE (KFSM)-- A seven-year-old boy is fighting for his life at Arkansas Children's Hospital in Little Rock after his family said a bench landed on him at a playground at Cedarville Elementary School.

On Tuesday (Sept. 1), Cedarville Superintendent Danny Foreman and school administration met to discuss the playground after the incident on Aug. 18. Crawford County Sheriff's Office deputies were called in after eyewitnesses said a bench was laying on top of Zach Moore and blood was coming out of his mouth every time he took a breath.

"He sustained multiple skull fractures, swelling on the brain," Brooke Moore, the boy's mom, said. "He had an artery that was bleeding behind his eye."

There are surveillance cameras surrounding the playground and the Moores had filed a Freedom of Information Act request to get copies of the video.

"Every doctor that we have seen so far has wanted to know what has happened. We honestly cannot tell them for sure what happened,” Moore said.

The school district responded to the FOIA request stating it could not release the surveillance video because there were other children in it. The Moores then filed a lawsuit against the superintendent.

Since the incident "Keep Out" and "Danger" signs have been posted around the playground.

“Our prayers are with them and we think about them all the time,” Foreman said.

5NEWS asked Foreman why he is not releasing the video.

“At this time we are working with the attorney, so we can see and make sure they have access to them," he said and declined to comment any further.

The Moore family said they can only hope Zach will be able to play again soon.

“We got moved out of the ICU on Sunday." his mom said. "We spent 12 days in the ICU and now we are in a regular room so he is doing a little bit better every day."
