FORT SMITH (KFSM) — The Fort Smith Police Department identified the man who died after a fire at the Fort Smith Waste Paper Company Wednesday afternoon (Sept. 2).
Police said Thursday the victim was Stephen Gately, 56. The medical examiner is working to determine Gately’s cause of death, according to police.
Fire officials said the fire was put out quickly and no firefighters were injured.
The waste paper facility is located on North 2nd Street, between C Street and D Street.
The investigation is ongoing.
