Walker is one of 17 candidates for the Republican Party’s nomination to the 2016 presidential election.

According to Janine Parry, a political science professor at the University of Arkansas, voters in the Natural State tend to lean Republican, which could explain why the state typically does not receive attention during presidential primaries and caucuses, but the earlier-than-usual primary may have put the state on the map as a candidate stop.
