GREENWOOD (KFSM) — U.S. Representative Steve Womack, R-Arkansas, made several stops across the River Valley Wednesday (Sept.2).

His first stop was at two area schools in Greenwood to kick off “Take Your Legislature To School Month.”

Womack spent the morning at East Pointe Elementary School and at East Hills Middle School, speaking with students about the importance of making good decisions and how to take advantage of a quality education.

“Anytime you have a chance at a school to have a congressman come and speak to your students, is a tremendous gift for your school,” said Principal Mike Dean.

Students wore red, white, and blue in honor of Womack visit. Superintendent John Ciesla said Womack has a way with students.

“He will teach them that the doors will be open if they do a good job in their studies,” he said.

During Womack’s visit, students were able to ask questions about his job in Washington D.C. and what he does each day.

Womack’s other stops in the River Valley included meeting with Greenwood city leaders to discuss growth in the area and a visit to the Crisis Intervention Center in Fort Smith.
