FORT SMITH (KFSM) -- A tailgating party will be raising money for a local center that helps women escape spousal abuse.

In a "5NEWS This Morning" segment that aired Saturday (Sept. 5), anchor Daren Bobb spoke with the Executive Director of The Fort Smith Crisis Intervention Center, Kathleen Cates. She talked about an event scheduled for next Saturday (Sept. 12) called "Tailgate For A Cause." Tickets will cost $50 per person, and it will be held at Golden Living in Fort Smith.

Cates said the center is currently full which means more women are taking the step to end the cycle of abuse.
