LITTLE ROCK (KFSM) — The University of Arkansas System started accepting applications for its eVersity on Tuesday (Sept. 8).

The eVersity is the state’s first online-only university, according to a press release from the University of Arkansas system.

The university’s initial degree programs include health care management, information technology, criminal justice, business and general studies, the release states. There will be multiple degree options within each field of study.

Each course will be developed and taught by faculty at University of Arkansas System institutions.

One perk of the online university is flexibility. The eVersity was designed to reach potential students who want to work while earning their degree, as well as to attract the more than 350,000 Arkansans who started college but got sidetracked before finishing their degrees, the release states.

The online university costs $165 per credit hour and $495 per course, but there are no additional student fees, according to the release. Each course last six weeks, and students can start up to seven times a year.

This is the first addition to the University of Arkansas System since 2004, when the Arkansas School for Mathematics, Sciences and the Arts joined, and the Clinton School for Public Service opened.

Interested students can apply at eversity.uasys.edu.
