FORT SMITH (KFSM) — Southside High School’s principal will convene a mascot selection committee in late September the school announced Tuesday (Sept. 8).
Principal Wayne Haver writes the committee will meet three or four times this fall so the results of their work will be complete by the 2016-2017 school year.
Southside High students are encouraged to submit ideas for potential mascots until Sept. 18.
The committee will be made up of the following current students, alumni, parents of Southside students and current and retired staff members:
- Travis Biggs- assistant principal
- Sean Carrier- band director
- Paxton Clark- senior class president
- Abby Clemmons- cheer captain
- John Cooley- Propak, alumni
- Scott Eady- alumni
- Gordon Floyd- deputy superintendent, SHS parent
