FORT SMITH (KFSM) - A golfing tournament scheduled for late September is giving people the chance to raise money for a local military group looking to donate toys to kids in need.

In a "5NEWS This Morning" segment that aired Saturday (September 12), anchor Daren Bobb interviewed Robert Rivera and Dennis MxCracken, both of the Marine Corps League-River Valley Detachment. They discussed the 2nd annual charity the league is hosting at the River Valley Golf Course in Dyer. The event will tee off on Saturday, September 26th.

The money from the tournament will go towards funding the Marine Corps League's Toys For Tots, which distributes toys to local families near the holiday season. They said when the program began nine years ago, they only helped about one hundred families. But, now the program has grown to the point where they bought a warehouse at the Chaffee Crossing Historic District to store toys.
