BENTONVILLE (KFSM) — Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art announced Tuesday (Sept. 16) that it welcomed its two millionth visitor since the museum opened on Nov. 11, 2011.

The museum will be celebrating this milestone throughout the month of September , a museum press release states. They will have free attendance to the “Jamie Wyeth” and “Warhol’s Nature” exhibits on Friday (Sept. 18), yard signs, discounted merchandise and a memory booth in the lobby from Sept. 16-20.

Anyone who becomes a Crystal Bridges Member through the end of September will get two months of free membership, the release states.

Part of the two million visitors came for museum programming, including 89,000 students who participated in the School Visit Program and 200,000 who came for lectures, performances or classes.

The museum was projected to attract between 150,000-300,000 visitors a year, Linda DeBerry said on the Crystal Bridges Blog. Since opening, the museum has attracted about 500,000 visitors annually.

Visitors can learn more about the Crystal Bridges building in a new exhibition, “Building Crystal Bridges: Art, Architecture, and Nature.”
