Great weather for Saturday, but we’ll see the rain quickly return for Sunday as a warm front lifts north. The best rain chances might be south of I40 with the greatest chance in Southeast Oklahoma on Sunday evening and Monday morning.
Next week will be dominated by mostly sunny skies and highs in the 80s.
Another weak system should pass across the area on Friday of next week and might give us the next good chance for rain.
Here’s a look at how it plays out.
The cold front that cleared the area has stalled to our south. As a ridge of high pressure builds in the southwest the front will push back to the north as a warm front on Sunday afternoon/evening. This combined with a weak upper level impulse will cause showers. The best rain chances will be closest to the front is SE Oklahoma and SW Arkansas.
You can see the rain breaking out along and south of I40 on Sunday afternoon. Widespread severe weather is not anticipated.
Despite the cool weather for the weekend, it’s actually going to be quite warm heading into next week with highs near or above normal.
The big circle at the bottom of this map is the ridge of high pressure which keep things calm during the work week. The black arrow is pointing to a weak disturbance that may move across our area on Friday late in the week. It’s a long ways out but it’s the next thing to watch.
