FORT SMITH (KFSM) - If someone ever sought the chance to volunteer at their favorite park or place in the River Valley, then next Saturday may be the opportunity they were seeking. Fort Smith is hosting its fourth annual volunteer fair along the Arkansas River welcoming several agencies from around the area.
For a "5NEWS This Morning" segment that ran Saturday (September 19), anchor Daren Bobb spoke to Volunteer Coordinator Cody Fabor of the Fort Smith National Historic Site. He said 24 agencies from Arkansas and Oklahoma state parks to other organizations in between, will have booths set up at the River Park Events Building along the Arkansas River. He said they can match people up based on their experience and skills to an organization where their talents will be fully utilized.
Some volunteer sites do require participants to meet certain guidelines. The fourth annual volunteer fair is scheduled for Saturday, September 26th from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
