FORT SMITH (KFSM) -- The Sebastian County Sheriff's Office arrested a man Sunday (Sept. 20) in connection to a homicide that police said occurred north of Hartford Saturday night.
Aaron Cutsinger, 25, is facing charges of first-degree murder and aggravated assault of a small child, according the Sebastian County Sheriff's Office. He is being held at the detention center without bond.
According to a press release, Cutsinger admitted to his involvement in the murder of the victim and the assault of the child during an interview with police.
The body of a woman was found at the intersection of Observatory and Sugarloaf Roads, according to Sebastian County Sheriff Bill Hollenbeck.
A two-year-old boy was found wandering the roads Saturday night covered in bruises, Hollenbeck said. The boy was transported to a local hospital and was listed in stable condition at last check.
According to the sheriff, Cutsinger did know the victim. Police are not releasing the name of the victim at this time, but said she was the mother of the two-year-old boy.
The woman's body will be sent to the Arkansas State Crime Lab for an autopsy, according to police.
Barling, Greenwood and Hartford police also assisted in the investigation.
