New Information And Sketches Released In 1983 Van Buren Missing Child Case

VAN BUREN (KFSM) — The National Center for Missing & Exploited Children released new information and composite sketches Friday (Sept. 25) related to a 1983 missing child case out of Van Buren.

Matthew Crocker was four months old when he was abducted from his Van Buren home on June 9, 1983. The center released a sketch of a woman who was last believed to have been with Crocker.

It is believed the woman, who may have used the name “Kathy Johnson,” had been working at a carnival in Fort Smith in June of 1983. She is described as a white woman with brown hair and multiple tattoos including a unicorn on her upper left arm, the name “Kathy” with a ribbon above it tattooed on her upper right arm and a green star with a yellow burst tattooed on the left side of her chest. She also had a long scar on the back of her right shoulder.

Crocker’s family is still actively searching for the child, who would be 32 now, according to the center.

Anyone with information regarding this case should call the Van Buren Police Department at (479) 474-1234 or the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children at 1 (800) THE-LOST (843-5678). Callers can remain anonymous.
