SEQUOYAH COUNTY (KFSM) — A man is dead Monday morning (Sept. 28) following a single-vehicle rollover accident on U.S. 59 Sunday night (Sept. 27), according to troopers with the Oklahoma Highway Patrol.

Ronald Sinclair, 47, of Stilwell, Oklahoma, was taken by medical helicopter to St. Francis Hospital in Tulsa to be treated for trunk internal injuries following the accident. According to a crash summary report from OHP, Sinclair passed away in the hospital at 4 a.m. Monday due to injuries sustained in the collision.

Sinclair was driving southbound on U.S. 59 north of Sallisaw around 6:20 p.m., when troopers say his 1999 Hyundai left the roadway to the right and jumped county road 1010. His car was then airborne for about 81 feet, before hitting the ground, the report states. Sinclair’s car then rolled twice, before stopping. During the accident, Sinclair was ejected approximately 57.1 feet, the report states.

Troopers said the cause of the accident remains under investigation at this time. They said a preliminary investigation showed Sinclair was not wearing his seat belt at the time of the accident.
