HUNTSVILLE (KFSM)- A local haunted house nearly had to close its doors, after thieves stole thousands of dollars worth of supplies.

The Expelled is a haunted house just north of Huntsville on Highway 23. Owner Brandi Soloranzo said they realized they had been burglarized when they opened up their building on June 1.

"When someone came and robbed us they took a piece of our joy, we love doing this, we love putting it on, they took a piece of our joy and it set us back, it set us back financially and emotionally," Soloranzo said.
She said the thieves got away with more than $7,000 worth of props and tools.

"We won't make a profit this year, we were hoping this was going to be the year that we could actually make a profit, we have yet to do that but we won't," Soloranzo said.

She said they take out a loan every year to put on the show, but she said their passion to entertain is worth every penny.

"We eat, sleep breathe this, and it seems a morbid to some people, and it could be but to us it's not we enjoy doing this," Soloranzo said.

The owner said since the burglary, they've installed 32 security cameras. Anyone with information on the theft is asked to call police.
