Waldron Woman Arrested, Accused Of Shooting Man

SCOTT COUNTY (KFSM) — A Waldron woman was arrested after she told police she shot a 44-year-old man Monday morning (Sept. 28).

Chancey Yandell, 24, was booked into the Scott County Detention Center on suspicion of a felon in possession of a firearm, according to the sheriff’s office.

Yandell told police she shot Shawn Boyd in the Hon community west of Waldron, according to a press release. Investigators couldn’t find any evidence of any type of confrontation prior to the shooting, the release states.

Boyd walked to a nearby home with two gunshot wounds and was transported to a Fort Smith hospital by helicopter, according to the release. Boyd is still at the hospital recovering from his injuries.

Additional charges are likely to be added as the investigation continues, the release states.
