VAN BUREN (KFSM) -- A Van Buren girl who battled cancer in 2011 is now using that experience to help others.

Jaelyn Cooper spoke with 5NEWS in 2011 when the Make-A-Wish Foundation made her dream come true by sending her on a Disney Cruise where she got to swim with dolphins.

Five years later, Cooper is cancer-free and giving back to children who are in the same place she once was.

"A lot has changed. A lot," she said. "I have learned a lot about life, and I have made a lot of friends off of it. I am able to help a lot more people out now."

Cooper reached out to the community and asked for toy donations that are now going to Arkansas Children's Hospital in Little Rock, the place that helped her get her life back.

"They have a toy closet for all the little kids to give them something to do. [The toys] kind of entertain them in the hospital,” she said. “[The hospital] runs low on it a lot, so we thought that would be a really good idea to have them bring gifts for the other kids."

Thanks to everyone who donated, Cooper's event was a success.
