ARIZONA (CNN) — A predawn shooting at a campus in Arizona left one person dead and three others injured, authorities said.
What led the suspect, identified by university police as freshman Steven Jones, 18, to open fire around 1:20 a.m. Friday remained unclear. University police Chief Gregory T. Fowler said Jones was cooperating with investigators.
Police received a call early Friday about shots fired at Northern Arizona University’s campus in Flagstaff. Fowler said it appeared the victims had been shot multiple times.
The injured were transported to a hospital, but their condition is unknown, said Cindy Brown, a university spokeswoman.Their identities have not been released.
The campus is not on lock-down, she said.
The Flagstaff campus is home to about 20,000 students.
