Arkansas Swimming & Diving Wins First Home Meet

Arkansas swimming and diving team won it’s first home meet 162-138 over Kentucky Saturday.

FAYETTEVILLE (KFSM) - The Arkansas swimming and diving team won it's first home meet of the season 162-138 over Kentucky Saturday afternoon.

Arkansas started out the meet with a bang with a first and third place finish in the 200 medley relay.  The Hog;s took home first and third in both relay events. They added on five first place finishes, nine second, and nine third place finished for a commanding win.

Sophomore Madison Edwards, an Alma native, finished third in the 100 breaststroke with a time of 1:04.57 behind Madison Strathman who finished second.

"We work really hard on beating people to the wall," Arkansas coach Sean Schimmel said. "We had some dog fights today, and some people really stepped up. we train for that, and they executed that come race time. so, that was really good."

"That was our top goal, to get a W," Edwards said. "To get a W against Kentucky, and we came in here and we accomplished that goal. It's a high, it's a very high for us. So, we're going to take that and go into the next two weeks of training before we go to Rice. use that to motivate us."

Arkansas next travels to Houston, Texas for the Rice Invite where they'll face Rice, Incarnate Word, and Houston on October 23-24th.
