LINCOLN (KFSM) – A Lincoln man is behind bars after he slammed a woman into a tree stump and choked her, according to the Washington County Sheriff’s Office.

Eddie Owens, 51, is facing felony charges of aggravated assault on a family member and first-degree terroristic threatening. He is also facing misdemeanor charges of interference with emergency communication and first-degree criminal mischief.

According to the arrest report, the incident happened on Little Rd. in Lincoln around 4 p.m. Friday (Oct. 9). The victim told police Owens dragged her around the house by her feet, slammed her against a tree stump, choked her and broke her cell phone.

The victim told police the argument started when Owens demanded she buy him a bus ticket to Alabama. She said she couldnt afford it and said Owens then jumped on her and knocked her to the floor.

According to the report, the victim said Owens drug her into the bedroom by her feet, then picked her and threw her against the wall. She said that’s when Owens got on top of her and began to choke her.  The victim also told police he began punching her in the side of her head and face.

She said Owens told her that if he hit her with his full strength, he would kill her.

The report shows the victim was able to get away and use a phone from a neighbor to call police. Owens is being held on a $50,000 bond. He will appear in court on Nov. 13.
