SEQUOYAH COUNTY (KFSM) — A husband and wife have been arrested on suspicion of bringing contraband into a jail.
Sheriff Ron Lockhart said Doug and Jerrica Collins were involved in a conspiracy to bring tobacco from a hospital men’s bathroom and into the jail.
The Sequoyah County Sheriff’s Department learned during an investigation on Tuesday (Oct. 13) that three inmates had faked medical problems in an effort to be taken to a hospital.
On Saturday night (Oct. 10), a jailer caught an inmate removing a package from the men’s bathroom at the hospital, and confiscated it.
Doug Collins was arrested on suspicion of “masterminding the scheme,” according to Lockhart.
