For a "5NEWS This Morning" segment that aired Saturday (October 17), anchor Daren Bobb spoke to Randy Smith with Fairview Cemetery. The 10th Annual "Tales of the Crypt" will take place this weekend, in what Smith said is more of a historical event giving participants the chance to learn of the lives of six different people currently buried.
Smith said he finds these events fun and hopes to do everyone buried in Fairview. It has been owned by the city since 1837.
Tales of the Crypt will run on Saturday from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. and then Sunday (October 18) from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. Tickets will cost three dollars for adults, and one dollar for children.
The money raised from ticket sales will go towards preserving monuments at the cemetery. In July, thousands of dollars in damages were done to Fairview.
