A post-apocalyptic battle between the living, and the dead rages on in Northwest Arkansas. It's a series of tactical missions to recover resources and defeat the enemy, all with lasers. Sean Bailey and Dillon Thomas team up to take on zombies at Modern Mission in Fayetteville for this week's Adventure Arkansas.

For the third year, Modern Mission Laser Tag in Fayetteville hosts a special series of advanced tactical missions based on survival.

Two teams, the Zombie Battle Unit and the opposing Vultures, face off in the indoor battlefield controlled by the Arena Master. But according to manager Parker Harrell, they aren't alone.

"There's a third team, our zombies, and they're on the battlefield. They do not care who you are, they are just trying to eliminate you. The way a zombie does that, all they have to do is get within 4 to 5 feet of you, and you will immediately start taking damage."

Parker says the number of zombies depends on the amount of players.

Despite what you may have seen in shows like The Walking Dead, hand to hand combat with any "Walkers" is not allowed.

"They are more World War Z type zombies where they're going to be a little faster and respond more to sound."

Shooting the zombies directly in the head will give you about a minute to get away from their life sucking force.

"There's lots of corners and obstacles and a lot of ways for you to lose zombies on the battlefield, or a way for them to lose interest in you and start to move onto other players. Sometimes it's more important to run faster than the player next to you, than try to outrun the zombie."

First time players, Hayden and Carson,  share some advice on how they survived a bout with the undead. "Watch your back at all times, watch the corners, and avoid zombies. Stay in groups and don't blind fire."

Harrell suggests, "Make sure you are staying with your small group. Don't make it a huge group because in a huge group, it's an easy way for other players to take you out."

Despite the zombies' stealthiness, for Dillon and I, zombie hunting was not as tricky. However, hunting the other team at the same time proved mortally wounding.

If you want to get in on the laser tag action there's still openings for sessions both on Friday and on Halloween. It's $25 a person.
