BENTON COUNTY (KFSM) -- A major at the Benton County Sheriff's Office announced Wednesday (Oct. 28) he will be seeking the Republican nomination for Benton County sheriff in March.

Major Shawn Holloway is currently the operations commander at the Benton County Sheriff's Office.

"Our good community deserves a sheriff who will be ready on day one, a candidate who has a proven and reliable reputation in the law enforcement area," Holloway states in a release.

Holloway states his priorities are to keep the community safe, protect victims of violent crimes, stay on budget, hold criminals accountable and support deputies and judicial officers.

Holloway has been a law enforcement officer for 21 years including the Rogers Police Department and the Benton County Sheriff's Office. His positions have ranged from patrol officer, undercover detective, shift commander, SWAT team commander and major.

"I believe it is important to have a transparent and candid discussion about the future direction of your sheriff's office and I look forward to doing that in the upcoming election cycle," Holloway's release states.

Three others have announced their candidacy for sheriff thus far, they include: Tim Filbeck, Glenn Latham and Paul Pillaro. Current Benton County Sheriff Kelley Cradduck has not announced whether he'll be seeking reelection.
