ARKANSAS (KFSM) — Hormel Foods said Thursday (Oct. 29) that it was voluntarily recalling a limited number of Skippy peanut butter jars in seven U.S. states, including Arkansas, because they might contain small pieces of metal shavings.

According to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA), the recall affects 153 cases, or 1,871 total pounds of Skippy Reduced Fat Creamy Peanut Butter Spread. It’s limited to 16.3 ounce jars with a “Best If Used By” date of DEC1416LR1 with a package UPC code of 37600-10500. The code date is located on top of the lid.

The recalled product was sent to distribution centers for Target, Walmart and Publix located in Arkansas, Alabama, Georgia, Virginia, North Carolina, South Carolina and Delaware, the FDA said.

The metal shavings were discovered in an in-line magnet check during routine cleaning.

As of now, no injuries have been reported to the FDA.
