STELLA, MO (KFSM)- A Rogers firefighter lost his home in fire Thursday (Oct. 29), and now community members are helping his family get back on their feet.

Firefighter Levi Clymer said he was home making dinner for his wife's birthday, when the kitchen went up in flames. He said he grabbed family pictures off the walls as he ran out of the house. Clymer said not being able to fight the fire himself was surreal.

"It's one of those situations where this is supposed to be where I come into help, not where someone comes to help me," Clymer said.

Clymer said he was home alone when the fire broke out. He said he is thankful his six children and wife were not there at the time.

Now he said they're looking to the future, made brighter by generous donations pouring in from the community.

"Even people that have lived in the area, know my grandparents years ago have sent stuff, just everybody, it's been amazing," Clymer said.

Clymer said their family cat LuLu did not make it out of the burning home, but he said what matters most is that his family is safe.

"All that was just stuff, stuff is just that, we've got the support and love of everybody in our church family, our fire family, and our actual family, it's just amazing," Clymer said.

He said the response from the community during this hardship is one that leaves him speechless.

"It's overwhelming, that's just the best way to describe it, it's overwhelming," Clymer said.

The Clymer's are temporarily staying in a rental home their church provided. If you want to help out, a link to their GoFundMe page can be found here.
