FAYETTEVILLE (KFSM) — A new Arkansas Department of Veterans Affairs office opened Tuesday (Nov 10) in Fayetteville. The office on MLK Boulevard is the first of eight district offices that will bring services closer to veterans.

Before the opening of the office, veterans would have to drive to Little Rock for the same services. The office in Fayetteville will connect veterans and their families with to services at local, state and federal level.

Vietnam veteran Cliff Mosier was at the opening and said the services offered are great for Veterans returning from overseas.

“They offer everything for disabilities, education, schooling- anything you want,” said Mosier.

The office, located at 2143 W. Martin Luther King Blvd., is part of a strategic plan that was presented to Governor Hutchinson in June 2015.

“We made a commitment that we would open up five of these offices across the state by 2020 but today we are opening our first. I am happy to say that we will open five by the end of this month,” said ADVA Director Matt Snead.
