ROGERS (KFSM) -- A memorial to honor those who paid the ultimate sacrifice opened Wednesday (Nov. 11) in Rogers.
The new memorial honors soldiers from Rogers who died for their country.
"We live in the greatest country on Earth. There is a reason why we have arrived here, and are able to enjoy it the way we are,” said Tim Beaman, a relative of a soldier who was killed in action. “Those who have gone before us have paid he ultimate price.”
Now there are 70 names permanently etched into the walls at Veterans Park
For Beaman, the name Charles J Lea is the most meaningful.
"My great uncle fought in the Second World War and was killed. He was one of the first soldiers brought back to Rogers in World War II,” Beaman said,
Arkansas Congressman Steve Womack was a guest at the opening.
"When you see the names chronicled up here on the wall, that's a sign of the true commitment," Womack said. “It will be a signal in perpetuity of the true cost of freedom.”
