(KFSM) — According to statistics from the Refugee Processing Center, one Syrian refugee has been relocated to Arkansas between January 2012 and October 2015.
Four have been relocated to Oklahoma, eight to Kansas, 29 to Missouri, 213 to Texas, 33 to Tennessee, 13 to Louisiana, and none to Mississippi. There has been a total of 766 asylum seekers from Syria relocated to the U.S. as of October 2015, according to UNHCR, the U.N. Refugee Agency.
Since the terrorist attacks in Paris on Friday, governors across the U.S. have expressed opposition to relocating Syrian refugees to their states, including Arkansas Governor Asa Hutchinson.
