FORT SMITH (KFSM) -- As rain quickly hit Fort Smith on Tuesday morning (Nov. 17), drivers said it caused quite a bit of trouble on their way to work.

The rain kept tow truck company owners like Chris Dros of Sports and Imports busy.

"This morning from about 7 a.m. to 11 a.m. we had about 25 calls," Dros said. "A lot of rain and a lot of cars getting flooded."

Workers at area tow truck companies said they took most of the vehicles back to the homes of the drivers but the vehicles they did keep - they estimate spending around three to four days working on them and cleaning out the water damage.

Ann Rantz was in a car near North 6th and K Street when her vehicle had to stop because she said water covered the road about 2-3 feet deep. Rantz asked her friend what she thought they should do.

"It looks like it's up to our doors. What are you going to do to get around all of this Suzy? What are we going to do? Probably try to find higher ground," Rantz said.

The pair decided to go around the flooding. But with many roads near the downtown Fort Smith area, flooded some drivers weren't so lucky.

As some drivers headed across the flooded roadways anyway, emergency crews would help push vehicles out of the water while waiting on a tow truck.
