FORT SMITH (KFSM) — The Fort Smith city directors approved microbreweries in certain city zones under conditions at its biweekly meeting on Tuesday evening (Nov. 18).
Microbreweries have been approved for the downtown C-6 zone and industrial zones under permit use.
The directors also voted to allow microbreweries in C-5 commercial zones for conditional use.
Entrepreneurs Quenten Willard and Brooke Elders have plans to open a brewery in Fort Smith called Fort Smith Brewing Company.
The discussion to approve microbreweries in specific zones comes after Willard and Elders had opposition when bringing up the zoning of an area off 9th Street on which to house their operation.
