FAYETTEVILLE (KFSM) — A charge filed against a Springdale man who was arrested following the stabbing death of a woman near Tontitown in May 2014 was dismissed Tuesday (Nov. 17), according to the Washington County prosecutor’s office.

The prosecutor dropped the hindering apprehension charge against Lewis Anthony Hedges, 35, citing insufficient evidence, the prosecutor’s office said.

Hedges was arrested several days after authorities arrested Brock Atkins, then 19, in the death of Dawn LeAnn Frazier, records show. Investigators said Atkins ran Frazier down and stabbed her after an argument over drugs. Atkins pleaded guilty to capital murder on Nov. 9, 2015 in order to avoid the death penalty.

Hedges was originally charged with being an accomplice to capital murder after Atkins told investigators Hedges had threatened to kill him if he didn’t kill Frazier, but that charge was later dropped and changed to hindering apprehension.
