HOWE (KFSM) -- LeFlore County deputies are investigating if arson is to blame after a truck went up in flames early Monday morning (Nov. 23), according to Undersheriff Kendall Morgan.

The truck was parked on a dirt driveway in front of the Dominguez family's home on Highway 83 when it caught fire around 4 a.m. The family said they thought the house was on fire at first.

"My daughter comes running up stairs and yelling, 'Mom the house is on fire. Get the kids.' I'm grabbing the kids and everything and running downstairs with them all and coming out the side door," family member Shannon Dominguez said. "My son-in-law was already out here and come to find out it was the truck."

Dominguez said five children, between eight months and 5-years-old, were all asleep inside the home before they realized the truck was on fire. All of the children, and the adults inside the home were able to make it out safely.

Dominguez said her son-in-law used a garden hose to keep the flames from spreading to the home until firefighters arrived on scene.

LeFlore County investigators said they  do have reason to believe that someone may have set the fire intentionally; however, the incident remains under investigation at this time.
