Man Arrested After Driving Truck Into Fort Smith Home

FORT SMITH (KFSM) — A 26-year-old man is behind bars after Fort Smith Police said he crashed into a home on 96th Street late last night.

Officers said they arrested Derek Burks, of Fort Smith, on suspicion of both driving while intoxicated and reckless driving after the accident happened.

5NEWS spoke with the family who was inside the home at the time. They said they were shaken up by the whole ordeal, but were glad no one was hurt.

Burks is being held at the Sebastian County Detention Center on a $2,500 bond. He’s set to appear before a judge Thursday morning (Dec. 3).
