Siloam Springs Police Department K9 Fado Gets Ballistic Vest

SILOAM SPRINGS (KFSM) — The Siloam Springs Police Department announced that its K9 Fado received a body armor vest after obtaining a grant through the non-profit organization Vested Interest in K9s, Inc.

According to a release from the department, K9 Fado has been partners with Cpl. Stephen Deppner since November 2013.

“We are very pleased that K9 Officer Fado has dependable, technologically-advanced protection,” Captain Monty Balk said in the release. “K9s can be overlooked as officers, but they are incredibly important to our police force.”

The release stated that one K9 protective vest has a value between $1,795-$2,234, has a five-year warranty and an average weight of 4-5 pounds.

Fado and Deppner
