Are children growing up faster than in the past?

Recent studies suggest children in the U.S. are developing earlier than in the past . While this may cause parents some concern, the American Academy of Pediatrics says signs of sexual maturation in children does not necessarily mean puberty has started. Doctors warn very rapid development in children younger than eight might indicate the need for a pediatric specialist.
