CLARKSVILLE (KFSM) - After a life changing surgery years ago, a long-time employee at Clarksville High School has a secret talent he's now sharing with the community.

Randy C. Smith has spent the past 35 years making sure the high school stays clean, but then something happening that changed his life in more ways than one. After spending time recovering from emergency brain surgery, Smith developed a passion for writing.

So far, he's written four books such as poetry and children's books. Smith said that the books that he writes are all about his childhood memories.

Even though he's spent years being a custodian at the high school, Smith said that writing is a talent that came naturally to him. "There's nothing like holding something of your own creation," said Smith.

Smith is having a book signing on Tuesday (Dec.15) at Clarksville High School. The event starts at 2:00 - 4:30 p.m. The writer's books are on sale for under $10 on Amazon, Hastings, and at Barnes and Noble.

Smith plans to retire from the high school next summer and plans to continue his writing.
