FAYETTEVILLE (KFSM) — Police released more details after a Springdale man was fatally stabbed during a physically altercation at a Fayetteville house party around 12:40 a.m. on Saturday (Dec. 12).

Fayetteville police originally responded to a noise complaint at a North Betty Jo Drive address, when they found an unconscious man, Cederic Oliver, who was bleeding on the ground, according to an arrest report. Oliver later died from his injuries.

Police arrested Rashad Brown, 17,  who has officially been charged with first degree murder, according to the prosecutor’s office. Brown is being tried as an adult.

According to witnesses, Brown and Oliver began fighting inside the house, but were asked to leave by one of the residents. The fight moved outside the home, when Brown allegedly lunged at Oliver with a knife, striking him in the chest, the report states. Afterward, Brown left the address.

Brown allegedly threw the knife after stabbing Oliver, and police were able to locate the weapon on Peachtree Street, according to the report.

Brown was arrested around noon Saturday at a Rock Street address, the report states.

There was a vigil for Oliver on Saturday evening in the courtyard at Springdale High School. Oliver was a member of the Springdale High School football team.
