On this Flavor of the Week, Melissa Hall visits a place where they like their chicken fried and tea sweet, and Happy Hour is an all day affair. She went to the home of local comfort food, State Fare.

When you think about going to the State Fare, one of the first things that comes to mind is all of the one of a kind foods you find there. They keep their Midway Menu simple and specialize on the Southern staples they dish out. Each day you can find different delicious specials. You should expect nothing less than off the charts fantastic food from the owners. They're the same creative minds that have given Fish City.

At State Fare, all of the entrees come with the classic country cooking. All of the side dishes are all you can eat and served family style. Black eyed peas, a salad, mashed potatoes, gravy, creamed corn & biscuits, all of this, plus whatever entree you pick.

While the menu might be small, the flavors and portions are anything but.

Brett Brundige explains, "The fried chicken is half a bird, so you get a wing, a drum, a breast and a leg. The catfish, two pieces 5 to 7 ounces. Today is all you can eat catfish, so if get past all of the sides, you can order as much catfish as you want. We're pretty proud of our food."

All of which are, like everything else on the menu, made from scratch and locally sourced as much as possible to feature all the amazing flavors you find here locally. They've focused their energy to perfect the menu. Like their Beer Can Chicken, super moist and seasoned just right.

Or their ribs, "Cooked three different ways, smoked them, then we cool them in a wet base and that adds a lot to the moisture as well, and then finish them off on the grill."

While it's a great place to bring the whole family, with the super fun kid friendly atmosphere, it's also a fantastic spot to come and catch the big game on TV. If brunch is your thing, on the weekends they feature a customized Bloody Mary bar, bottomless mimosas, and they always have your favorite local beer. You can take over their back room with your friends or let the State Fare  come to your house and cater your next event.

No trip to the State Fare is complete without a funnel cake, or maybe you're more of a fried Twinkies or cotton candy kind of person. Regardless, they're going to satisfy your sweet tooth.
