CENTERTON (KFSM)-- On Saturday (Dec. 19), Santa teamed up with the Centerton Fire Department to spread some holiday cheer.

The Centerton Fire Department has done a Santa tour around the holidays for many years.

"I think this is at least the 10th year, we've done it for approximately 10 years, and what happens is, we have a driver, we have santa, and we have a guy helping hand out candy," Matt Swanson, a captain with the department, said.

Swanson said this was the first year they had a mapped out plan.

"It's something that as the city's grown, it's been harder to keep up with it," Swanson said. "However, this year we've got a map in place, so we can be sure nobody gets missed. If we don't go down your street, at least you have a map of where we're going to be."

Many of the firefighters volunteer their time to do this, but they said it's worth it when they see the kids' faces.

"It's really cool to see them come out," Swanson said. "They're usually just happy to see us and happy to see the fire truck."

Captain Swanson said it's all about giving back to the community.

"We've got a lot of feedback from the city, the community, saying, 'hey, we really love that you guys do this,'" Swanson said "It's something that we want to continue to do as long as possible, as long as we can."

If you missed Santa in your neighborhood this year, he'll back with the fire department again next year.
