Arkansas Women’s Rally Not Enough To Take Down Texas

The Arkansas women’s basketball couldn’t rally back enough against Texas for a 61-50 loss.

OKLAHOMA CITY (KFSM) – A rally back from a rough start was not enough for the Arkansas women’s basketball team to take down No. 5 and undefeated Texas on Sunday in the Big 12-SEC Challenge at Chesapeake Energy Arena in Oklahoma City for a 61-50 loss.

In a game that had the potential to be a blowout, Jessica Jackson helped bring Arkansas within three points as the end of regulation neared after starting out the game with a 17 point deficit. But, the Longhorns pulled away within the last minute, forcing the Hogs to foul and send them to the line to shoot.

Jackson lead the Razorbacks with 22 points, and Devin Cosper was right behind her with 13. The two were scoreless however in the first quarter. Arkansas trailed Texas 20-3 after the first 10 minutes of play. The Hogs only points game on a jumper from Alecia Cooley and a Jordan Danberry free throw.

Arkansas held Texas 25 points below it’s scoring average. They have not beat the Longhorns since 1991.

The Razorbacks will be back at home hosting Mississippi Valley State  on December 28th at Bud Walton Arena with a 7 p.m. tip off.
